Audio Question

Play an audio prompt to respondents, then collect their spoken answer.

Use Audio Question when the question itself should be heard (instructions, a clip to react to, or a spoken prompt) rather than only read as text.

Set up the audio prompt

  1. Add an Audio Question from the Content + menu.
  2. Under Question Recording, either:
    • Click Record Question to record the prompt in the builder, or
    • Click Upload Audio to upload an audio file
  3. Optionally enable Play audio on page load so the prompt plays when respondents reach the step.
🚧

First step note

If this is the first step respondents see, browsers may block autoplay. In that case, respondents start playback manually.

  1. Enter supporting question text if needed.

Answer recording

Configure how respondents answer with voice:

  • Response duration limits (min/max) via the recording limits controls
  • Vocabulary terms to improve transcription accuracy (up to 50 terms)

Optionally enable Allow text response option so respondents can type instead of recording.

Common properties

Like other question types, you can set question text and description, mark the question optional, assign a variable name, add logic actions, and attach images, audio, or video.

See Questions for shared setup steps.
